| From non-ferrous metal blanks to high-tech products: The Wieland Werke AG opted in drycooling for the manufacturing processes of its rolled products.
In 2003, the Wieland Werke AG with its headquarters in Ulm, Germany, replaced their 30 –year-old roller plant for non-ferrous metals with a state-of-the-art hot roll plant. In the new plant heavy blanks can be "stretched" in several rolling cycles to 100 meters length.
The state-of-the-art rolling technique requires drycooling with air instead of groundwater. Two independently operating drycooler plants with refrigerating capacities of respectively 5 MW and 3 MW were installed for plate cooling and the rolling stand. Wieland decided to use 6 Güntner drycoolers of the unit series GFH. The companies Wieland and Güntner have historic business connections: Wieland supplies Güntner with copper tubes.
