ATP testing facility of TÜV Süd: Vehicle testing at temperatures from -40 to +50 °C.
Every refrigerated vehicle that transports easily perishable produce through different countries has to be ATP-certified.
The requirements defined in the ATP regulations are very demanding and require very high standards in testing laboratories: The vehicles are classified according to their equipment and their suitability for transportation of perishable produce. Especially important in this respect are the vehicles' heat insulation and the performance of the refrigerating and heating elements that are tested by TÜV SÜD in several climate chambers with special measuring procedures and thermographs. One of the climate chambers is designed for temperatures down to -40 °C.
Equipping the chamber with air coolers posed great challenges, because the chamber's structure was problematic for installation. After complex calculations by Güntner and in close cooperation with the ATP testing facility, three GCO air coolers were selected for the chamber.
The air coolers provide cooling on a total surface of 2,720 m² with an overall performance of 340 kW. Every air cooler coil is equipped with double piping for additional defrost.
